We like making things. Actually making them.
Cutting fabrics, sewing bombers, making bags, stringing beads — it’s how STYGR started in 2019, with two sisters and our grandmother’s sewing machine. And it’s still at the heart of what we do today.
Most of our collection is made in small batches, either by us in our Haarlem atelier or together with small-scale ateliers we trust.
Our approach is pretty simple:
We’d rather make more of what you love than guess what you’ll love.
Small batches, more freedom
Sometimes we find an amazing fabric and there’s only enough for a handful of bombers. Sometimes we make a small batch, you sell us out and we make another. And sometimes, once it’s gone, it’s really gone.
We love working this way. It means we can experiment with new fabrics, colours and ideas without producing hundreds of pieces upfront.
Find five metres of a ridiculously good fabric? Make a bomber.
Come across beads we absolutely need in our lives? Make a necklace.
You all become obsessed with one bracelet? Make another batch.
That freedom is a pretty big deal to us.
Made close to home
A big part of STYGR is made by us in our own store & atelier in Haarlem. Walk in and there’s a good chance you’ll find one of us behind a sewing machine, cutting fabric or making jewellery.
When we need extra hands, we work with small-scale ateliers in Amsterdam and Turkey, allowing us to produce more while keeping quantities relatively small.
For some T-shirts and sweaters, we start with quality basics from Stanley/Stella, chosen for their use of certified materials and their commitment to improving working conditions through initiatives including Fair Wear.
For us, it’s not about claiming everything is made in one place. It’s about making thoughtful choices about what we make, how much we make and who we work with.
Thoughtful, not perfect
We’re still a fashion brand. We make new things and use materials, so we’re not going to pretend buying a new bomber will save the planet.
What we can do is avoid producing huge quantities just because that’s how fashion is often done.
Instead, we choose small batches, local production where possible, trusted makers when we need them and lots of making things ourselves.
And hopefully, we make pieces you’ll actually want to wear. A lot.
Our bombers are still the best proof of that: customers regularly come back for their second, sometimes even their third, while telling us how many compliments they still receive. And that makes us so proud. But mostly, just really happy!
